March 18th-Slice of Life # 18 I also read some of the blogs that celebrate poetry Friday, & this week 100 Scope Notes is featuring book spine poems-leading up to April poetry month. I thought I'd try one. I have so many books & they are all over the house, so am amused thinking of putting 'poems' on various shelves to see who might notice them. As I dust the shelves, I will now be looking for lines of poetry along with my usual thoughts about my favorite books, books I haven't read, books that people have given us--certainly loads of nice memories.
That is an excellent idea! I'll have to try this in my classroom! Thanks for sharing that! I would like to thank you for making comments on my students' slicers' blogs. It means the world to them and it has encouraged them and others to write. Thanks so much! Happy slicing! Have a super weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a crafty idea. I'm not a big poem person but this could be right up my alley. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. Poetry is something I have been playing with since this SOL Challenge began. This could be fun. Thanks for sharing. MaryHelen
ReplyDeleteI think Ruth or Stacey did this last year and I had forgotten all about it...thanks for reviving a fun idea. Love your poem, by the way. It reveals something about you simply by the selections you made from your collection. I love the idea of leaving books stacked in poems on the shelves, too!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! I may need to try this for a future post.
ReplyDeleteOoo! What a great idea! I think we will try this at our house this weekend! I like the poem too, it paints a winter moment, quiet and wild.
ReplyDeleteOnce, for an photography class assignment, I photographed the front of my refrigerator and a section of my bookshelves. (I forget what the assignment was.) We were supposed to print them and bring them in. I realized how personal the bookshelf picture was--it was really hard to post it. From books about health to weight loss to gardening to spiritual issues to parenting, those book spines reflected my life at various stages and ages. I have a book spine post for tomorrow's slice--fun to see yours today!

This is a cool idea. I'm just starting to venture into poetry land (aside from my college lit classes which I hated poetry). I'm trying to find poetry I like. I'll have to remember this idea.
ReplyDeleteWhen you mentioned that you had book spine poems, I immediately searched for the ones you created here, can't believe I missed them! So strange! :) This one is nice. I love the whole idea of wild places. And like what you said, I can't look at book spines the same way again, I hear poetry breathing through them! :)
