Shadows
I see shadows in the dark
Leaping into flight.
They dance in my dreams
Kidnapping me at night.
Shadows lurk in corners,
And I hesitate to look.
They waver in other places,
Sometimes hiding in a nook.
Shadows try to stay
Like the mold in dampened pails.
It’s hard to make them disappear
Like the rust on rusty nails.
Shadows as I sleep remain
lingering in the dark,
But when I wake I break away
Escaping their dusky mark.
What a great poem. It really resonates with me. May I share it with my students?
ReplyDeleteto Storykeeper-of course-it may help them write about their dreams?
