Thank you so much, Ruth and Stacey!
I am thankful
flowers sat on my desk,
notes filled my mailbox
beautiful words arrived on voice mail
and on the blog
people traveled to my house:
my son, my daughter, my brother,
my sisters-in-law, my friends, my colleagues
fixing, hugging, calling, touching,
kissing, laughing, eating, talking,
crying, sighing, remembering.
Every day a challenge,
but every day brings love
and joy
and knowing
I am not alone.
Beautiful to feel so loved and surrounded!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you feel loved!
ReplyDeleteMay the embrace help hold you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem.
ReplyDeleteI love your poem, and I'm happy you're so loved! :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I mean to tell you this every time I read and comment, but I love your reading list at the top of your blog. I wish I could figure out a way to do that, too!
You are a strong and inpirational woman to write about being thankful. I love the lines,
ReplyDelete"fixing, hugging, calling, touching,
kissing, laughing, eating, talking,
crying, sighing, remembering"
All about togetherness. Know you're not alone!
Your poem is wonderful reading for Sunday morning!
ReplyDeleteWow - you are such an inspiration. "Every day a challenge . . . . and knowing I am not alone." I'm not surprised that you are surrounded with family and friends, near and far. I think this truly says so much about you as a person.
ReplyDeleteI agree with MIchelle. It did not surprise me at all to know that people have rallied around you. I am a firm believer that what you put out in the world comes back to you. Your love and caring is returning! The poem brought tears to my eyes though, happy that you are feeling that love. Take of yourself! Do something today truly for you and what makes you happy.
ReplyDeleteOh! God's blanket of love is at work. I thank you for acknowledging how it works. It is a reminder to me to be love to those around me. Peace to you, my Slice of Life friend.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a wonderful community of people, virtual and real, that are there for you because of all you've done for them in the past. It is wonderful to be surrounded by so much love and support. I hope the challenges of life will ease a bit for you. You continue to reside in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are surrounded by people who love and care for you. You are in my prayers. I know we will meet face to face soon!
ReplyDeleteLinda, what a wonderful group of people you have around you. I loved this line,
ReplyDeleteEvery day a challenge,
but every day brings love
and joy
and knowing
I am not alone.
I'm glad you don't feel alone. What a difficult time you are in but how wonderful to have all of these signs of love around you.
Beautiful post! Isn't it such a blessing when, at the end of the day, we know that we are not alone, but loved beyond our wildest dream...
ReplyDeleteLike many commenting before me, it comes as no surprise to me that you are not alone. You, who give yourself so generously, will be surrounded with caring and love.

ReplyDeleteA graceful and moving way to describe the support you have gotten! I'm glad to know that you have had so many people showing you that they care. Your final stanza is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteIt is all these kinds of gestures that will get through the rough days...I love how you expressed it in a poem. I hope you are getting some rest. May all the love that surrounds you continue to sustain you.
ReplyDeleteSending you cyber hugs!
If there is anyone who has reached out to let others know they are not alone, it is you Linda. You deserve every ounce of support you feel and then some. I am so happy you are surrounded in person by support as well. Long distance {hugs} to you!
ReplyDeleteI ditto what Christy said. So glad people are enveloping you in support in order to be thankful through the challenge. Hugs from me too.
