My Love Song
Come stay
with me
and hug a
while;
your arms
will only
make me
smile.
My days
are joyous
with yet
one fear—
an empty
life
without
you near.
Enough of
sadness
I’ll live
life true;
savoring the minutes
I spend with you.

ReplyDeleteYes, I think he was. Thanks, Katya!
DeleteLovely and poignant. What a beautiful gift!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jama. I remember it being such fun to write for a special time.
DeleteBest gift ever: a poem from the heart. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Myra; you are dear!
DeleteA beautiful love song for Arvie, indeed. Thinking of you every day.
ReplyDeleteSending you something your way soon. Some health issues of my own got in the way the last two weeks.
Thank you Stacey. Don't worry about sending; sorry you've had some problems, in addition to all the work you're doing for the summer!
DeleteSo prefect. You always have just the right words. I'll bet Arvie feels the same way.I hope he is content in his new place.
ReplyDeleteTammy
Thanks, Tammy. So far, things are okay; it's been a week. The staff is very kind & helpful!
DeleteInspire of all you are going through, dear Linda, you focus on and celebrate what sustains the spirit - hope, and above all, love. What a beautiful gift, this poem...and all the memories it holds.
ReplyDeleteTara, it's the only way to scale that mountain, I really believe. Thank you for your sweet words!
DeleteSuch an important message: to savor the time we have. Being present in the now is sometimes one of the hardest things to do. I am reminded how many wonderful things in my life I take for granted. Thank you for your beautiful words.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy. There are lots of things to be thankful for, that's for sure.
DeleteWhat a nice idea to revisit a poem from a special day. You clearly cherish happy moments. Love your love poem. (Thanks for the shout out)!
ReplyDeleteThanks Betsy. I hope there are lots of chalk poems!
DeleteVery sweetly spoken. For a poem like this, you don't need to know if anyone else likes it or not. But I do.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! Thanks!
DeleteI read this last night and didn't leave a comment, but I just had to come back and leave one. I love the way the first stanza shows that comfort to be found in each others' arms. The rest of the poem almost made me cry, knowing what you are going through with your husband now. Really powerful, and so brave of you to go back to it now to share with us.
ReplyDeleteNo matter what, I still love him, & I think I wanted to remind myself that times have been different when I wrote this, but I tweaked it a bit at the end. Thanks Jennifer!
DeleteLinda, Every time I read your words, I learn. Thank you for your open heart. I am thinking about you and your husband. a.
ReplyDeleteThank you Amy for your words, too!
DeleteI, too, have begun to think about (not too often, for not too long) about that possible loneliness at the end of my great love...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it's just a little, Mary Lee. Thanks for sharing with me.
