It's the last day of April, poetry month, and I'm still writing some poems from Mary Lee Hahn's photo prompts from the Wikimedia Commons at A Year of Reading.
The final line of the Progressive Poem that's been growing all the month will be presented by April Halprin Wayland. Find the link on the list to the right.
And Betsy, from Teaching Young Writers, is holding a Chalkabration today at the end of Poetry Month. I've written a poem to go with a photo of a bee for Mary Lee's photo, and chalked with an App this time. Unfortunately, I have moved and cannot find my chalk.

Love that you have decided that the bee has knees that are fat and golden and pollen fuzzy. Now I know that I'm not the only one. I can wait to see them in the garden. xo Snow!!!!

Thank you students in Mrs. Hubbard's class. I like writing about animals I learn about. This year a class at my school is learning all about bees and have their own hive! They will begin selling honey this coming year!

ReplyDeleteI love your poem today! The rhythm is great..."busy buzzy" and "pollen fuzzy." Thanks for sharing you poem along with the picture! My students had to get creative today with their chalking too...we use large black sheets of paper to chalk on today since we had buckets of rain falling!

DeleteThe bees have been busy in my neighborhood. The crab apple tree was especially buzzing. Unfortunately those knees have not collected all the pollen floating around. Everything is coated with a layer of yellow-green dust. Achoo!
ReplyDeleteWe are so, so late this year. I know that yellow pollen-from the pines & other evergreens I think. We really do have snow coming tonight. I really wonder if there is going to be another bloom! I bought a huge bouquet of flowers the other day to brighten things! I did love your photos, Elsie!

I have enjoyed following your blog and the many other events happening during this month. I've learned a lot about where poetry ideas can be found. I've enjoyed the energy it has all provided for me in the classroom.

DeleteLinda, my students know you as the lady in Denver with the deer story. I share my blog with them and we always look to see who has commented. I love the poem about the bees. My students liked the wordplay with busy buzzy and pollen fuzzy. Thanks for helping keep us focused on poetry all month long! Now I have a totally unrelated question for you. Tell me about the All Write Institute that I keep hearing about from other bloggers.
