Endings-Chalking

I think it was last year when Betsy Hubbard began her end-of-the-month CHALK-A-BRATIONS on her blog, Teaching Young Writers.  It's been lots of fun seeing what and how people chalk.  Since I moved, I've been 'chalking' on my IPad with an app titled ChalkDraw.   Don't forget to go to Betsy's blog to see all the other links to Chalk-a-bration!

One of my trees in the front yard-bits of yellow throughout.

  1. Your seasons seem to change so quickly. We will be in summer heat for a few more months, but the mornings are getting cooler. I love signs of fall, cooler temperatures, the smell of sugarcane burning, and satsumas ripening. A wonderful season in the south.

    1. We had a late spring, and now it's surprising that some parts of trees are turning. I wonder if it's because of the heat & lack of moisture instead of fall coming. We could have a cold front arrive at any time, especially around the equinox-never try to plan an outdoor activity then-the weather is so unpredictable. thanks Margaret! I love your images of 'sugarcane burning and satsumas ripening'-different places...

  2. Boo hoo hoo is right! I love all the seasons. They all have things to offer. However, summer is just so perfect. Beautiful, abundant, restful and saying goodbye to all that is hard. I look forward to the colorful fall we are about to have but find myself crying a little for summer to last longer. :) Thanks for chalking today!

    1. I love them too, but the time that summer means is part of the sadness, too. We are busy in a different way now, aren't we? Thanks Betsy!

  4. Your chalk poem describes my feelings perfectly! I do want to shout a big LOUD BOO HOO HOO! I love my job but I sure love summer at home with my own kiddos! Have a great school year Linda!

  5. We start school on Tuesday. One of my favorite writing activities is having my students Kiss Summer Goodbye in their writer's notebooks (Fri. Sept. 20) and then we'll Embrace Festive Fall on Monday. It's always fun to point out all the exciting things that occur in the fall since all of of us feel pretty sad about saying goodbye to summer, as you pointed out so cleverly in your poem. I love the idea of using Chalk Draw on the iPads, especially since fall brings so many rainy days for us.

    1. Oh, and if you have IPads, it will be a very good thing. My Granddaughter loves messing around on the draw programs! I have several, so check out which you think will work best for you, Ramona. Thanks, and best of wishes for a terrific start!
