Tuesday Slice of Life-hosted by Ruth and Stacey at Two Writing Teachers-Come visit!
Back from my vacation to Captiva Island. Here are a few slices of sweet stuff for you to enjoy. I took my favorite ocean book along, Henry Beston's The Outermost House. His words: The seas are the heart's blood of the earth.
Bubble Room food delights.
Everyone together every day.
All we want to do is play.
Can’t stop looking for shells.
or not
Heaven is an ocean view at sunset.
I loved your story poem, I agree with you 'heaven on earth' those glorious sunsets! xo
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy. I believe I could make an entire album just with my sunset pics!
DeleteWhat a wonderful way to be with family. We have one coming up in early September. Good to be watching you via FB :)
ReplyDeleteIt was terrific, Bonnie. And it is fun to see what everyone's up to on Facebook. I'm watching for Teacher's College info too!
DeleteYour story - picture poem is filled with happy memories. Even if I didn't know it from personal experience, your poem would tell me that heaven can be found on earth at the beach!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anita-it was a very good week!
DeleteBeautiful pictures, beautiful time! I'm glad you were able to get away to such a lovely place with your family. Cherish them.
ReplyDeleteYes I do, Margaret. It was a lovely time with everyone. Thanks!
DeleteSuch a great trip - and such a perfect picture memoir! I think your idea of heaven on earth is exactly right. So glad it was such a good time for you and your family!
ReplyDeleteThank you! The ocean was just such a special place to be this time.
DeleteLove your beach poem - makes me feel like I'm there. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Katherine-it was an amazing time. And I love your recent posts! Am sharing with my colleagues!
DeleteI loved Captiva when I visited with a friend over 20 years ago. Nice to see it's as captivating as ever! Your picture poem speaks well of what a wonderful time you must have had. Come Friday, you'll see a similar post with vacation pics on my blog. ;)
ReplyDeleteHow great to hear it was similar so long ago. I'll look for your post Michelle! Ocean poems and pics are around the blogs lately! Thank you!
DeleteHeaven indeed! There are few things I would rather do than spend time at the beach. It looks like you and your family had a wonderful vacation. Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteCatherine
You're welcome, Catherine. I know we all can't live on a beach, but wish it were so!
DeleteA perfect recapturing of the moments that make heaven...family, being together, a beautiful place, and time. Welcome back, Linda!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tara-was quite a great trip!
DeleteThat was the most imaginative acrostic poem I've ever read. I love the way you intertwined words and photographs (that illustrated your well-chosen words even more).
ReplyDeleteThank you Stacey-simple, direct, true!
DeleteOh, those pictures are going to be fun to revisit when fall and winter come! It looked like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteOh Holly, so true. Yet, I already wonder if I can still remember that wonderful "smell" of the ocean? Thank you!
DeleteYou are so creative! This is great, I may have to try this structure sometime. My favorite picture is the everyone together although the sunset is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elsie-I loved your photos too!
DeleteBeautiful Captiva! Your words have made it even more so.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Have you vacationed there? Just an awesome place, among many I know!
DeleteYou've captured the beauty, the togetherness, the contentment of the beach. You have given us a little piece of your joy through these words and pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christy-it was a pleasure to have this week!
DeleteLove your acrostic format with pictures, Linda! My favorite was "all we want to do is play". You're right -- our slices this week were really similar! :-) Glad you enjoyed some wonderful summer fun too!!!
ReplyDeleteYou might remember I just sold our little 'cabin in the woods', so I loved hearing about your own experiences in your cabin. Thanks Jennifer!
DeleteWelcome back from the beach! I've got Valerie Worth beach poems coming on Friday. :) Large bodies of water never fail to inspire, do they? xo
ReplyDeleteIrene, I have enjoyed your sharing of the Worth poems every week, & now ones from the beach-just great timing! Thank you!
