Winter Chalking
Betsy Hubbard, a teacher who manages two blogs, Teaching Young Writers and I Think In Poems, and writes for Two Writing Teachers, also started a tradition at the end of the month last year sometime where some of us link up after having "chalked" a poem on our sidewalks or driveways somewhere. I've been using a chalk app, but today, with snow falling, I thought I'd take a picture and use Skitch to share a chalky poem. Here's the result of chalking in the snow!

Cute poem, Linda. The snow is very chalky so this blends well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Catherine. It's stopped this am, but more is coming this afternoon! No chalking here!
DeleteNice, Linda! I feel your pain--we don't have any sidewalks at the moment either!
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane! Winter is still around!
DeleteLovely, Linda. We still have snow on the ground in Maryland (rare for us -- it usually melts after a few days). I'm enjoying those snowy sparkles.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura. We had snow all night, and more this afternoon-no snow day, however-must be off to work! It is beautiful, I agree!
DeleteWell this is a first -- chalking in the snow. Cool idea, Linda. Cute poem :).
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jama, the only way, at least at home!
DeleteI love how you manage to get so creative for Chalk-A-Bration!
ReplyDeleteThanks Betsy-thought it would be fun this time because of the snow!
DeleteLOVE the rhyming in your poem, Linda. AND, I liked the use of Skitch too.
ReplyDeleteSkitch is just terrific, Stacey-all kinds of things to do with it! Thank you!
DeleteFun. I'm picturing chalk ice skating.
ReplyDeleteSomeone posted a picture of drawing on snow, but I didn't have time, had to go to work early this am. Thanks Liz!
DeleteGreat idea Linda! I love the poem...I wasn't feeling like unearthing a stretch of sidewalk today either so I chalked on the iPad. I love the images your poem created in my mind. Fun!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love those chalk apps too! And so does my granddaughter!
DeleteChalking snow - what a great idea either on the computer or with the cold, white stuff. Here in the desert we'd have to chalk the sand. Great poem, Linda! = )
ReplyDeleteThanks Bridget. I just saw something on Facebook about drawing in the sand with a rake! Maybe you should try it?
DeleteYour poem made me smile and reminded me that I need to share Betsy's blog with my kids. I think they would love Chalkabration. Enjoy the snow. I am wondering if winter will ever come to an end. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie-I bet your class would love it! The snow stopped by morning, but it's very cold now, & snowing again. Our snowiest months are Feb. & March, so we still have some to go! Keep warm!
DeleteCute poem and love those rhymes! Wish we had seen snow. We just got iced.
ReplyDeleteIt stopped this am, but is back now. Guess we're going to have the ground covered for a while! Thanks Margaret!
DeleteThis is so clever, Linda. I'll have to give Skitch a try. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteDo try Skitch, Catherine-very fun to do, easy with your own photos!
DeleteVery fun! More snow forecast, so actual chalking seems a lifetime away!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I just got up, still snowing here, although it's supposed to stop mid-morning. Happy February!
DeleteWhat fun. I wonder if you could use water poured over the snow to write. Not having much experience, I have no idea if it would work.
