I had a terrific week in a classroom of 4th and 5th grade aged students. They are wonderful students, and it was a joy to work with them. I enjoyed working with my colleagues, too. But I, like all teachers on Friday, am tired! My week was filled with student interactions, lunch meetings with various grade-level groups, and a few individual meetings. And the week began with my granddaughter Ingrid's fifth birthday dinner Monday evening. She had a special birthday, a palindrome, 4-14-14. Today is the final day of that phenomenon this week, 4-19-14.
One text to celebrate: my grandson Carter, a 7th grade, was invited into the National Honor Society. I bet he's pleased, and I am proud of him.

I know it's spring, the meadowlarks are back at school. My school, just minutes away, is more on the prairie edge and it backs onto a wetlands. When I hear that sweet sound, I know spring has arrived. Click on the video and enjoy!
How could I not celebrate a five year old who wants to show me how she can run down the hill?
And I watched big sister Ingrid help little sister Imogene put on her boots.
I'm still watching the sky, and here is one, fish swimming in the cloud ocean!

Five is a magical number. Then again, with children, each year is so special. I hope that you took some time and ran down the hill too. Makes you feel ageless, as does the sky watching. :)

DeleteThe meadowlarks are so loud, I can actually hear them inside my car (even with all the windows up) as I'm speeding down the highway to work (across miles of rolling prairie). Your week sounds incredibly busy, but also very rewarding!

DeleteI left a comment over at Laura's site. Thanks for sharing with us. The meadowlark is a sound from my childhood. I never knew what bird it was in the woods behind my childhood home. I recognize it. That meadowlark is calling to be in a poem somewhere.

DeleteI read somewhere about the palindrome days this week, and then forgot to share it with my students. There's never enough time to do it all. I've heard many good things about Thrive. But it's probably not my season to buy it. Love the granddaughter pics.

DeleteI love all your celebrations, but my favorite one was probably the picture of your granddaughter running down the little hill. Pictures like that remind me of the joy young ones have at the smallest of moments. They could really teach everyone a lot about noticing all the celebrations around us!
