Celebration - Fun To share!

Come Celebrate with Ruth Ayres at Discover Play Build! Here at the end of the week, it's a good time to stop and reflect, to find those lovely moments to celebrate in the week. Thanks to Ruth, we all get to do this together!

Hard to believe I've been back to work for a week, a long, long week, but by Friday, everyone seemed to have their "mojo" back, and it was a terrific day of work and hanging out, playing together. Students progressively became more energetic from Monday through to Friday. We all actually did well on Monday, although we were tired by the end of the day. Here are a few pictures that highlight the week:
Snow Sunday!

Therefore calling loudly for vegetable soup!
Monday, the earliest on-the-way-to-work, and the best sunrise ever.

I shared my year's one little word, and I've only painted one other time,
despite my goals of every day.

My Friday company, coming home with me after school,
giggles with the five year old in the funny hat!

My class and I celebrated the work accomplished this week. We're beginning the hard work getting ready for Expo in February, and timelines are completed as much as can be. On our way! In addition to this huge effort, my class began blogging this week. They've made a great start, this time their first slices, then we'll begin book sharing, two posts each week. Come check it out if you have time!  It's Linda and Jonathan's Class Blog here!

  1. That sunrise is so beautiful! I'm glad you took the time to capture it in a picture. (Can't that be a form of 'painting' too?) It sounds like you had a good week back, Linda. Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Thanks for the thought of 'painting' with my photos, too, Jennifer. It hasn't occurred to me at all. Yes a good week, but oh how I'm ready for the weekend too! Hope yours is good!

  2. YAY!!!! I'm so excited your students are blogging! That's so exciting! The first week back after break can be such a tough transition. (We had 2 snow days and a delay to make our first week back easier.) Enjoy your weekend!

    1. We have a lot of work to do, so I'm glad we didn't have snow days, but they would have been welcome I'm sure (tehe). Thanks, Michelle, the blogging is going to be fun! Happy weekend to you, too!

  3. Dedicated teachers arriving early is a celebration along with the beautiful sunrise. I'm excited to see more photos of your painting. I love your choice for OLW - creativity flourishes.

    1. Thanks Maria. I think that teachers arrive early so they can survey the quiet room, before it fills with all the learning, at least I like it that way. Have a great weekend!

  4. The snow is in the Midwest too! I'm calling for two pots of soup this weekend! I love Jennifer's idea of taking your photos and using them as inspiration for the painting. That is amazingly creative! What a lovely week!

  6. Even after a long week your words are filled with energy and excitement. The sunset pic is beautiful. Your granddaughter's pic is always the winner.

  10. Look at that sunrise! Wow. I also LOVE the hat! I think it is so much fun that you have so much time with your grandchildren. My parents and parents in law are very involved and it has been so special for our kids.

  11. Thanks everyone. I've been all over town doing errands; It's wonderfully warm & seemed a good time to go, plus I did some prep at school & now am back ready to read your posts! I hope those of you who are cold get this warmth from the west!

  12. We have not had snow yet which is unusual. I would be fine with one and done! Hopefully you will find some time to paint this week, but I know how busy they are. Now, I am off to find your post for your OLW - I missed that somehow.

  13. Sounds like you had a nice first week back to school. I like the way you are working up to two blog posts a week with your students. It is a good idea to do Slice of Life and reading blog posts. I love that picture of your granddaughter! Such a cute winter hat!

  14. What a gorgeous sunrise! We've had some beautiful ones this week too--must be something with the weather and the timing of the sunrise? I am behind on blog reading and hadn't seen your post yet on #OLW. Looking forward to reading it and enjoying your creative explorations vicariously! Love that your class has started blogging. I was happy to see a few posts pop up in my reader this week from former students who are continuing to blog even though they aren't in my class anymore and don't have any requirement to blog.
