After I posted last Saturday, after doing a few errands, I took the first nap I've had in a long time. I needed it, it was the beginning of our winter break, and it started snowing that evening. I know those of you in the east and southeast don't want to hear about celebrating snow, but because I didn't have to "go" anywhere, it was heavenly.
I've been writing a poem a day for a challenge offered by a blogging friend, Laura Shovan, Author Amok, who sets a challenge each February because it's her birthday month. It's been wonderful to have the time to write without hurrying.
Ingrid had her promised sleepover with me Wednesday. We ate lunch at Noodles, went to the zoo which was so under-crowded that we rode the Merry-Go-Round all by ourselves (and took a selfie). Highlights were the lizards, the anemones, and the sweet penguins. Evening time was full of more pasta and ice cream, just a bit of playing, and bedtime books. It was a wonderfully warm and glorious day.
Despite the extra time on vacation, I still had a lot of school work to do, but even that time was nice and leisurely, going to school to clean out a few things, use the copier, make quiet decisions. I suspect you teachers know what I mean.
This is my 903rd post! It's been a journey of happiness and sorrow, celebration and regret, but I do love to write, and appreciate all those who have come along for the ride. I celebrate that I've been able to continue, and have the support that helps me do so.
The news about the All-Write Consortium is here. Is anyone planning to go? The line-up of VIPs is impressive, including Ruth Ayres and Mary Helen Gensch. I think I can just make it, after finishing the last evaluations, etc. for school. If you look carefully, you'll recognize nearly everyone in the picture! What a nice surprise!
Celebrating a good week! How about you?
The blogging community with all the memes are so great. It's nice to feel a part of something.
ReplyDeleteYes, it really is, Earl. Fun to know people in many different places!
DeleteWow what a line up at All-Write. I had no idea. Thanks for sharing. I'm wondering about the timing for me. Glad you had a good week off. (even with a little bit of schoolwork thrown in...)
ReplyDeleteIt would be terrific if you could make it. The timing is tight for me this year, too. Yes, it was a good week!
Delete903 posts. You live a rich life and find wonderful words to share it with your readers. Keep blogging! The flyer pic with familiar faces made me smile. It is a pity I can't attend. I hope you will go and share inspirational moments.
ReplyDeleteI hope someday you can get to the US, Terje, but it's lovely hearing from you and your life across the ocean!
DeleteCongratulations on your 903rd post! That is something to celebrate! I celebrate your time to refresh. I love the work pace that comes with a break. A celebration that just makes me smile. (I love that selfie!)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kendra, I 'knew' that teachers would understand that 'slow' pace-it is nice.
DeleteCongratulations on your 903rd post. Wow! What a fun day for you and Ingrid. It sounds like you used you week off to your advantage - a time to relax a little, have a little fun, and get a little work done. We had almost a week off due to snow days, but I wasn't as productive as you. I am hoping to go to All Write again this year if all works out! Fingers are crossed.
ReplyDeleteHard to believe it's almost been a year, Leigh Anne. I hope to see you again!
DeleteI love following the fun you have with your grandchildren. I am glad you found some relaxation time during your break. We all need to slow down and take a break. Enjoy the snow!
ReplyDeleteYep, it's fun to have the girls near, and I do get to see Carter more than I thought I would. Snow is on the ground, there's a lull, then another wave is coming. This time I get to stay in! Thanks, Margaret!
DeleteThank you for sharing the All-Write information. What an amazing line-up. It is definitely something I need to get on my calendar. The sleepover with Ingrid sounds amazing. Time to spend with special little ones is so precious. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Andrea, All-Write is a great time if you can make it! And having Ingrid is also much fun. Hope your week is good, too!
Delete903. In awe. You share so much wonderful Linda. I always feel like I am settling in for a smile when I come to your blog. It's comfortable and full of home.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carrie, hard to believe that it is 903-lots of words! Fun to be here, too.
DeleteLinda, congratulations first of all on all of the writing you have accomplished. Secondly, I am so glad that your week was memorable. Thirdly, the All-Write Conference sounds impressive but I am presenting at the ILA Conference in St. Louis in July so that will be my one big travel conference of the summer.
ReplyDeleteIt's tempting for me to go to the Reading conference, then I could visit my brother in mid-Missouri, but I love the All-Write for its smaller venue & still great people, and some close friends. Thanks, Carol.
DeleteWow- 903 posts. And they chronicle all of the ups and downs of your life. I feel the same 9though far fewer posts). Glad you had unhurried time to write this week, and time for a nap. Those occasional naps are the best.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time I don't need much sleep, but that nap after the big Expo week was a gift. Thanks Lisa.
DeleteIt's great that you got to make those "quiet decisions" and had relaxed time for yourself and with Ingrid. Naps are great.
ReplyDeleteI agree, don't have too many of those times, always grateful for them.
DeleteWould you have ever thought you'd be in the 900's when you started posting? Amazing! But you participate in so many weekly memes, so it adds up. What a fun time with Ingrid, I'm so jealous. Our time with Clara will always be so limited. As for All Write, I've sent in my registration. Looking forward to great days of learning.
ReplyDeleteHurrah, I'll try to get mine in tomorrow before I get too busy! I'm really looking forward to it, Elsie. Yep, the 900 rather snuck up on me this time, didn't notice until last night. Yes, I feel lucky to have Ingrid & Imi so close-won't always be so, so I'll take all the time I can. I miss Carter.
DeleteHappy 903rd post! I love the pace and voice of your celebrations--all wonderfully warm. The pictures from your day with Ingrid made me smile, sea anemones and penguins with a child are hard to beat.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lee Ann, I'm so glad we went that day. Now it's snowy & cold, just wouldn't be the same!
DeleteAwesome celebration 903! That's a lot of writing! I know what you mean about having those quiet moments at the copier! That's one reason I like to stay late at school...most seem to be early risers. Great celebrations with you as always Linda!
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy, yes, sometimes I stay late too. The quiet makes time for good contemplation of what was & what's coming!
DeleteLove the pics from your time w/ Ingrid, especially the penguin pics! So glad you got to indulge in a nap. Would love to come to All Write, but probably not this year. Too many trips already scheduled. Who knew retirement would be so busy? Congrats on your 903rd post! Be sure to let us know when you hit 1000!
ReplyDeleteOh, so sorry you won't make it, but glad your told me, Ramona. Maybe another time? The zoo was wonderful, seems long ago now that it's cold and snowy! Thanks, Ramona.
