Carrie Gelson of There'sABookforThat hosts a check-in each quarter to see how we're doing with our reading of our MustReadIn2015 lists (see above). Today's the check-in, and while I know I've read thousands of words in the past weeks, most of them were blogs. There hasn't been much going on with those books on the list. It has become my 'wall of shame'. Of the twenty-one I'm-sure-they're-all-wonderful books, I have read only one, The True Blue Scouts of Sugarman Swamp by Kathi Appelt. It was terrific, and hopefully this next three months will see more crossed off!
Beautiful! I can hear them singing now! I hope the music continues to play ... I heard that we may have snow on Friday!
ReplyDeleteYep, we're supposed to have snow tomorrow evening into Friday, then 70 again by Sunday. Thanks, Michelle!
DeleteMmm...spring music...
ReplyDeleteLinda, thank you for spreading your sunshine everywhere! I really appreciate the time you give to read and share comments. So kind.
Thanks Loralee. Are you posting every day?
DeleteI've been writing a lot of haiku this winter. Something about the short form helps me concentrate on what is really important. My first poem for April wasn't a haiku, but it echoes your poem with looking forward to spring.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kay. This is rather new to me, but thought I'd try the challenge of these forms.
DeleteYou have definitely captured Denver right now! The pear tree in front of my house is about to go into full bloom- white, flowery, beautiful (and a little stinky, but oh well, you can't have everything). I woke up this morning expecting rain or snow, but it's still dry. Hurray!
ReplyDeleteI noticed more trees in bloom as I drove through town yesterday! Now they're saying the snow is coming tonight. I hope not too bad because of the trees. I'm working on my 'fear' poem now, will visit you next! Thanks, Carol!
Delete"opening leaf notes"
ReplyDelete*swoon*
Soon we will have such music in Holland, NY too!
Thank you for the hope, Linda. :)
And today we have snow in the forecast-I'm hoping the blooms will not be too damaged! Thanks, Amy!
DeleteThe True Bluescouts is on my list - glad to hear you loved it. Someone gave me a copy in paperback so it will likely be a "come on a summer trip" title for me.
ReplyDeleteKathi Appelt tells a good story, from animals' points of view. I liked The Underneath too-always interesting in style. Thanks, Carrie.
DeletePhoto and words complement each other. Love the "leaf notes," too. The unfurling of leaves is such a miracle to witness.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elsie. I have the girls today, so have a little time to reply. We have snow coming tonight, but back warmer Saturday. What a mercurial spring. And yes, that unfurling is wonderful. All of a sudden the green haze is there!
Delete" Opening leaf notes" starting your April spring music. Those leaves are so green!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julieanne. Glad you came by.
DeleteHaiku makes you pay attention to every. single. word. All of yours matter here. From the stretch to the notes to the swelling of music. Love.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Margaret. This kind of writing takes a different kind of concentration!
DeleteI love to see poetry alongside a photo. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Are you writing with us too, Crystal?
DeleteRe: MustReadin2015! One is at least a start! I'm glad your life is fill with wonderful words!
ReplyDeleteBeing back in the classroom & the March blogging took many of my reading choices away. Hope to find more time soon! Thanks, Earl.
DeleteWhat a beautiful haiku! I know what you mean about all the blog reading - it does cut into other reading time.
ReplyDeleteYes, enjoyable though it was, it takes away from book reading. Thanks Holly.
DeleteI join you in the #mustreadin2015 shelf of shame! Hoping to get serious about some of that reading so that I can manage more than 3 titles over the next 3 months!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope I can catch up this summer, long luxurious days come to mind! Thanks Elisabeth.
DeleteI love this poem, and it uses my OLW, stretch! My poem for Friday is a haiku about spring. I wish I had more time to visit blogs and read poems!
ReplyDeleteOh, great about your OLW! I won't have time next week, back to work! I'm enjoying it while I can. Will look for you tomorrow! Thanks, Ramona!
DeleteI am sitting out on my porch now, and I hear some of that spring music!
ReplyDeleteTerrific, Leigh Anne, like the end of you final SOLC post. I am sitting in my living room watching snow fall. We won't get much, & most is melting because it's been so warm, but wow-April Fool's a day late!
