For this wonderful month of April, Poetry month, I made the goal to write haiku and haiku-related poems. It's been rewarding to write something new every day. I've put all that I wrote in a page above if you'd like to read some of the poems.
Here is the final one.

April words

It's Poem In Your Pocket day, too. My class will be sharing a poem with staff members today so they too can carry a poem in their pocket!
I'm also happy that some of us are sharing on twitter with the hashtag #DigiPoetry, created by Margaret Simon, of Reflections on The Teche. You're welcome to join us. There have been so many offerings this month, and I was sorry to have days when I did not have the time to read other beautiful words or contribute a poem myself. All were rounded up by Jama Rattigan at Jama's Alphabet Soup. I wrote a lot of poetry and read even more. It was a month filled with words. As the late Mark Strand wrote:
“Ink runs from the corners of my mouth.
There is no happiness like mine.
I have been eating poetry.”
Be sure to visit Matt Forest Essenwine at Radio, Rhythm & Rhyme for the final line of the 2015 marvelous Progressive Poem, child of Irene Latham at Live Your Poem.
i've enjoyed your haiku this month. you have been able to distill much in so few words.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kay, it's been fun reading all the poems you've been doing with Mary Lee!
DeleteThese words will continue to entice long past April, won't they? Thanks for filling the month with color over here. I hope the kids (and grown-ups!) had a great Poem in Your Pocket Day - & you, too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Robyn. My students chose, and some wrote, some beautiful poems for the staff members, some brought to tears. It was lovely to see how much it was appreciated.
