I'm writing haiku and haiku-related poetry this month. Focus on the out of doors and on word choice is both a challenge and fun. I'm also grateful that some of us are supporting each other, sharing on twitter with the hashtag #DigiPoetry, created by Margaret Simon, of Reflections on The Teche. Here is today's offering:

Fun, Linda! I could walk penguins all day!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jane, they were so busy, but I couldn't help thinking how different the habitat was from their own 'real' one.
DeleteLove the sound of penguins perambulating. So glad to see in the news this week that MAJOR changes and upgrades are coming to the zoo.
ReplyDeleteThanks for telling me. I didn't see that, Carol. It's hard for me to go to the zoo. This time I took Ingrid, and it was fun to talk about all the animals. I do know that there's a place for zoos, to educate and help people look for ways to help the plight of some. Still, the habitats are so small!
DeleteA great word, perambulating! Don't you love finding words that are just right?
ReplyDeleteYes indeed! Thanks, Margaret!
DeletePerambulating! Yay for zoo time and this word in particular!! I have recently gotten a penguin education while writing my Antarctica book (coming 2016)... I can look at this pic and tell you that the one whose face we can see is a Chinstrap penguin, but I don't think the other two are... perhaps Adelies?? Oh, if they would just perambulate a little for me. :)
ReplyDeleteThey are new to me, Irene, African black-footed, the only species found in southern or southwestern Africa, according to my zoo site. Thanks!
DeleteAh, what wonderful alliteration - PERAMBULATING - perfect! I love penguins. They just make you smile, don't they?!
ReplyDeleteYes, they are very cute, Holly. Thanks!
DeletePerambulating is a wonderful word for penguins. What a fun poem!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kim. It fits them beautifully. My only regret is that I didn't do a video of them.
DeleteI love the alliteration you used, and I had to look perambulating up in the dictionary - new word for me! Never too old to learn.
ReplyDeleteNew wonderful words, never too late, Leigh Anne. Thank you!
DeletePerambulating what a word. I looked it up too. Great word thanks for adding to my vocabulary!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julieanne. It fits those funny penguins well!
DeleteThis one is delightful. I laughed at the picture, visualizing the penguins perambulating in their tuxedos.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carol, they were wonderful to see.
