We had a big snow this week, and of course I took pictures. It was cold, all schools had a snowday, people cursed the unplowed streets. And memories came from the beauty, too.

The terseness of your poem makes it! Well done, Linda. Merry Christma--and don't hurt yourself shoveling!
ReplyDeleteLeft the "s" off Christmas. My fingers are not quite up to speed.
DeleteIt's okay, Diane. Thanks for the wishes! Luckily my HOA clears the sidewalks. I just have to clean off the car! Merry Christmas to you, too!
DeleteThe smell of pressed white linen echos the crispness of the cold. Nice, Linda!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tabatha. The snow brings many winter and holiday memories.
DeleteNice, Linda. Merry Christmas to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you, and good wishes to you for a Merry Christmas, too, Dori.
DeleteI love that pristine feeling of newly fallen snow and pressed white linen. White Christmas -- something I could only dream about as a child. Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jama. It is a delight to see the smoothness before tracks arrive! Happy Holidays to you and yours. Hope you get a little snow back east!
Delete"pressed white linen" - brilliant, Linda! We've had the cold, just not the snow here in Tucson (waking to 20 degree mornings most days this week - yowza!) =)
ReplyDeleteWow, that is so cold for Tucson, isn't it? It's supposed to warm today & be near 60 tomorrow. Weird weather indeed. Thanks, Bridget. Happiest of Christmases to you!
DeletePressed white linen - beautiful and unexpected!! Linda, your poetry is shining merry and bright today. Thank you! And here in the Deep South we need pictures like the one you share to prove it really does happen! (They are forecasting 77 degrees for Christmas Day!!) xo
ReplyDeleteAnd now today, puddles everywhere, well above freezing. We might reach 60 tomorrow! The snow was hard for those having to be at work or helping others, like cleaning the streets and sidewalks, but for the rest of us, it was lovely. Thank you, Irene. May you have a wonderful Christmas, warm or not.
Delete"Pressed white linen." I love snow pictures. It's finally a bit chilly here, but that will change quickly.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Margaret. Your beauty is in other things I know! Merry Christmas.
DeleteWow, that IS a significant snowfall! And here we are in NH, still waiting. I love your use of brevity - the starkness matches the white of the landscape!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Matt, I appreciate the compliment. We got about 10 inches, & more in outlying areas. More than all last winter, at one time at least. And tomorrow it's supposed to be near sixty degrees. Very strange weather, & you in the NE, none. Merry Christmas. I hope the repairs are moving along.
DeleteLove that 3-D table cloth!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary Lee. I get it every year!
DeletePerfect! (Both the haiku and the untouched snow in the photo.)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Violet. Have a wonderful holiday!
DeleteLove! (And another snow poem, as I sit here in my sleeveless top and shorts. :) )
ReplyDeleteThank you. Very strange weather this year!
DeleteThat "pressed white linen" is gorgeous, Linda. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Catherine. Hugs to you this Christmas. I'll be thinking of you and your family.
