Celebrating with Ruth Ayres at Discover Play Build. and linking with others who share their celebrations, too. I am grateful to Ruth for helping us celebrate together!
This time last week I was in Texas visiting my son, daughter-in-law, and grandson, watching Carter in his marching band in a regular game and in a competition. They did beautifully and earned a one. Now I'm back, but they're on their way to the "next" level of competition. If they do well this time, it's on to the state contest. Busy, busy are the parents. I remember. And I celebrate being able to spend a weekend seeing Carter and his band, seeing his parents be those volunteer parents who do a lot!
Here is what I celebrate from the past week:
It's very flat in Lubbock, Texas where my son and family live. But I found a beautiful sunset there, too! |
Celebrating this part of my family. Being with them is a joy. |
Haven't been to a Friday night lights game in many years. It was a lot of fun! |
Carter plays the trombone just as I did so long ago. This is a special thing, although I really had nothing to do with the decision-promise! |
Carter is a beginning driver and took me for a ride around the neighborhood. Wow! This is an amazing thing! |
On that drive, I had to take a picture of this Halloween decoration, on a fireplug! And yes, the back is easily recognized so no fire hazard! |
Leaving my airport, and saw this reflection of it in the new hotel. I liked the image. |
Won this wonderful new poetry book from my poetry friend, Robyn Hood Black, out last week from Pomelo Books, Sylvia Vardell and Janet Wong. |
Both girls came on Wednesday, and before dinner, we read Halloween poems, and Ingrid read most of them! So great to see her reading to her sister! |
Wishing a Happy Halloween to everyone, starting another good week!
I love tagging along on your trip through your wonderful pics. I loved the years of band, but Friday game nights were busy, busy, busy. So glad you were there for this fun time. I especially enjoyed the FB post of Ingrid reading to Imi.
ReplyDeleteThanks! t was a great trip and a fun week, Ramona. I think Ingrid surprised herself that she could read this poetry book. I bought it for them last year, and now she's reading it! Good stuff!
DeleteTripping with Linda-such a great experience and I found some remarkable pics: fire hydrant decorated for Halloween, read aloud time, Carter. Lots of joy in this post, Linda. Can you please offer the photo of the hotel for #Autumnventure? It is so unusual - what a great eye you have.
ReplyDeleteDo you need me to send it, or can you grab it here, Carol? Thanks for noticing. I had to take that pic! It was a great week!
DeleteWhat a great week! Thanks for sharing it with us!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Jane. fun to re-visit!
DeleteYour photos share joy, wonder, and togetherness. I know you are smiling (face and heart) when you look at the pictures.
ReplyDeleteIndeed I am, Terje. Time goes so quickly that I'm happy to capture some of it in the photos! Thanks!
DeleteIt's so fun revisiting your trip. Family time is so important and continue building memories. Thank you for always supporting me with your tweets and comments. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maria, it's a wonderful community to be in!
DeleteWhat a great time with family far and near! I love the freedom retirement allows. One of these days I will be truly retired and free to travel to visit the kids without consulting a calendar. Great photos, Linda!
ReplyDeleteI did need to find a sub for my time at the bookstore, but you're right, I am mostly free now. It's nice, and hope you are going to get there soon! Thanks, Elsie.
DeleteLook at Ingrid reading now! And your grandson driving. My oh my!
ReplyDeleteYou turn around, and they keep growing up, Carrie!
DeleteI loved seeing your pictures from Texas. Looks like you had such a good time! I knew Carter was in the band, but didn't know he played the trombone. So does my daughter! I received a copy of "You Just Wait" and it is amazing. Have a great rest of your weekend, Linda!
ReplyDeleteOh, terrific. Love the trombone players! I've been so busy I still haven't really gotten serious with Just You Wait, but I will! Thanks Jennifer, hope you have a great Sunday!
DeleteOh wow the memories you are creating together! They brought back some of my own Friday night lights memories. I lived in Texas during high school and college. I'm glad you were able to visit.
ReplyDeleteIt was very fun, Crystal, and I just found out that they did great today too, so going on to the state competition! They are very excited!
DeleteSo enjoyed seeing your photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Loralee - I love taking them for the memories!
DeleteI was struck by how fast Carter is growing up. Yay for marching band -- and for grandmas that get to celebrate in person.
ReplyDeleteRuth
Hard to believe, right? It was terrific to be there. You're so right! Thanks, Ruth!
