Celebrating A Special Group

Celebrating with Ruth Ayres at Discover Play Build.  and linking with others who share their celebrations, too. I am grateful to Ruth for helping us celebrate together!

SPECIAL NOTE: I am serving on the Cybil's Poetry group again this year, this time Round One. I want to remind you that anyone can nominate a favorite book that was published from Oct. 16th, 2015 to Oct. 15th, 2016, when nominations close. Go HERE if you're interested!

Days fly by, appointments are made and accomplished, grand-girls visit, and now it's a new month and a favorite because of the beauty of fall and my birthday month
I'm going to echo Ruth's words today and fight the good fight in writing. There are times when I find other things that I think I must do instead of writing, but I have found that when I make an appointment with myself, it's easier. On the calendar the words are written, WRITE!

This week included that wonderful time that my writing group met. Our numbers have dwindled. Some left in order to find time for other artistic work; some have moved away. This time, three of us met. We talk about what is going on in our own worlds, what is happening in world news, and then get to our writing. It is a great thing to receive feedback for the writing I'm doing. Having new eyes on those words means new thoughts and ideas, different visions of what it can be. I am grateful, and celebrate these friends who write and inspire me to keep on with my own goals, too.

An old calendar cover that's a good reminder!

  3. A writing group, however small, is so essential to a writing life, Linda - so glad that yours keeps going on.

  4. I would love to have a writing group! What a special time that would be. Maybe I should do what you do and schedule writing time! I might just get more done that way!

    1. Now that I've retired, I have struggled to find some kind of schedule, Leigh Anne. It feels like I have lots of time, then all of a sudden the day is over! I have to make the schedule or it doesn't happen! Best wishes for finding your group!

  5. Thanks for the nomination reminder. I'll have to put that on my list of things to do this weekend. As November and NaNoWriMo loom, I start thinking about writing. I'm not sure if I want to do the big project, but I definitely want to start writing again. I wish you a wonderful time with your writing.

    1. Thanks, Crystal, I'll look forward to your nominations! I did what I could this am, but there are a few categories I don't know much about. Great that you are thinking of more writing!

  6. We are all stronger through our connections with our tribes! Sounds like you have found a good group, Linda, even if your numbers are small. (More time for one-on-one support, right?)

  7. Making the time to write, taking the time to write, writing here and now - a good choice to make. I am gad you have a writing group, even just three of you, to give feedback and encourage each other.

  8. Making time to write - it's a challenge even in retirement. Seeing the list of Poetry Cybils folks makes me wish I'd volunteered. Maybe another time! October is one of my favorite months too! Birthdays for both kids, autumn color, and that nip in the air!

  9. Linda, I love the idea of a writing group. When I work collaborating, I feel a sense of belonging and am more purposeful with what I do with my time. I am going to mull over this idea that you brought to my attention.
