#NPM17 - 16/30 - One Minute

If you can’t be a poet, be the poem. – David Carradine

My goal for Poetry Month: TINY THINGS. My choices may surprise you, and I'm excited to write, share, and read how everyone writes to meet their special goals for celebrating poetry month.

       Poetic things of interest:
See the page on the bar above for the Progressive Poem's schedule of poets, hosted by Irene Latham at Live Your Poem.

And, if you'd like to see what everyone is doing for Poetry Month, look HERE at Jama Rattigan's post at Jama's Alphabet Soup.

Bridget Magee and her family have started a project in response to the chaos happening in our government. Go HERE to find out about it, to see how you can help!

One Minute

Early dark, that minute waiting
for the tiny touch of light.
Celebrate the promise made
that sun will overcome the night.

One by one our gifts awaken.
Day by day the colors rise.
Watch the artist paint by number--
yellow, lavender, bluest skies.

  1. One by one our gifts awaken... that is so beautiful and hopeful, Linda! Reminds me of a poster in one of my kids' elementary classrooms: every child is gifted, they just open their gifts at different times. xo

p.s. Did I tell you yet how much I glow when I see your Bleeding Heart flowers at the top of this site? Such precious petals!

    1. Thank you, Jan. I loved writing that poem, and it is a special time for me, too. The bleeding hearts surprised me this year. From my side door, they are out of sight behind my large tree. One day I walked out, and they were up and blooming! It's been an unusually warm winter and everything seems early! Yes, they are wonderful, I agree.

  4. I missed stopping by yesterday. I love the gorgeous sunrise and your words:
"Watch the artist paint by number--
    yellow, lavender, bluest skies."
It's truly a lovely time of year.

    1. Yes, it is indeed, Ramona. I'm sitting here at nearly 8 o'clock and still have the windows open. We had deep snow this time last year. Thank you!
