I’ll Tell You Something Beautiful
The sight, in flight, of a
bluebird sky,
the conk-la-ree of red-wing shriek,
firelight on a zero day,
tangy lemon drops.
Remember too,
jasmine spice.

ReplyDeleteWhat a catching first line Linda, "The sight, in flight, of a bluebird sky," Your lines move through your poem and then take off–beautiful, thanks!
ReplyDeleteWonderful, April. I can taste it.
ReplyDeleteLovely poem, Linda. Love how those lemon drops slipped into the middle. :) Bluebird sky is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI really needed this today - this miserably prolonged winter has got me feeling a bit melancholic, so your blue bird and lemon drops are like a soothing balm for my soul. :)

ReplyDeleteDon't you love the song of the red winged blackbird? I was just playing it for my Kindergarten ornithologists the other day. Many thanks for sharing your lovely poem. -- Christie @ https://wonderingandwondering.wordpress.com/blog/
ReplyDeleteThe poem you wrote is packaged just right for a springtime lift right now. It has been raining today so your colorful, sensory poem perked me up, Linda. You might want to consider showcasing this one at Springsations.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the gorgeous Colorado sky! I do so miss that BLUE. (Maybe that should be the name of the new blue crayon -- Colorado Sky!) I see a wishbone in the clouds...
ReplyDeleteLinda--how spare, how lovely! I'm so sorry that I wasn't in a good position to appreciate your April project. I'm taking time this month to go back and catch up, and also to put more into my math project, since college decisions rather distracted me. We've reached a good one now...phew!
ReplyDeleteOh--and I adore your bleeding heart!
ReplyDelete"Beauty saved." It's a definition of poetry!
