I often imagine the days of weather as music playing for me each day. I am enamored now with all the summer warmth, June arriving, flowers flourishing, EVERYWHERE! My furnace was needed just last week and all of a sudden this week windows are open, and here I am welcoming this first month of summer!
Weather Notes
May’s days blared jazz,
riffs that would not stop,
up and down the scale
a winter/spring flip-flop.
Conductor raises the baton,
invites June, warm and slow,
to play with us in softer tones
inside a summer glow.

Linda, your poem is fantastic! Wow! I especially love your last four lines. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda. Our weather has been so changeable that I was inspired!
DeleteI love the sound of this poem. It's so alive, like the world is waking up. It's the other way around here, Summer is ending and the rainy season has began.
ReplyDeleteThanks, now I'm imagining your raindrops making music!
DeleteThe music of the season - lovely, Linda! Another beauty from lovely Linda. :) I especially love that winter/spirng flip-flop. xo
ReplyDeleteThanks, Irene, fun to imagine for these up and down days!
DeleteLove this! Here's hoping that June stays in better tune than May did for us!
ReplyDeleteHeat is coming today and through the weekend, summer begins! I love the cooler evenings, but they might not stay either now. Thanks, Donna.
DeleteThe music of summer for me is a calm and gentle cello concerto. So glad that the drama of the school year's brass and percussion have been silenced. Hear that? The birds are joining in the song...Ahh...
ReplyDeleteSounds like a poem for teachers everywhere, Mary Lee. Enjoy your concerto!
DeleteWhat a beautiful welcome to June! Lovely poem. Enjoy those slow days.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kay. I know that I will!
DeleteMother Nature is being fickle this season-same here - heat on, heat off, fan on, etc. Your poem describes this circular motion well. I can capture Weather Notes easily for the gallery. This poem should be near the end to usher in the close of the season. Is that fine, Linda?
ReplyDeleteI think we may have had this 'weather' time all across the country. Certainly, you may share Carol. Thanks!
DeleteLove love your poem, Linda! I never thought of weather in terms of music before. Brilliant! I hope June is indeed warm and slow -- I'm tired of the flip flopping . . . :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jama. I just read your post, and love the jazz poem from Sandburg. It fits the May I was imagining! I hope June settles into a nice warmth, too.
DeleteWonderful poem, Linda--here's to June's softer tones and summer's glow!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Buffy, I'm ready!
DeleteBeautiful analogies, Linda. Yay for June! I love the columbine in your picture.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brenda. The columbine have grown to new heights this year, maybe because of the late & wet spring, no matter the cold. I love them, too.
DeleteI love that you live your life as a soundtrack, Linda... a poetic one at that. Enjoy the summer symphony!
ReplyDeleteThank you, just humming along. Good wishes to you, too!
DeleteFingers crossed conductor continues on with the score of warmer weather! -- Christie @ https://wonderingandwondering.wordpress.com/blog/
ReplyDeleteI am always hopeful, Christie! Thanks.
Deleteriffing up and down the scale.....beautiful and true! Wonderful poem.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda!
DeleteI love the connection of weather to music and how it has changed in one month. Your thoughts for June are perfect - warm and slow.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mandy. Anticipating summer is a wonderful thing.
DeleteLinda, I love your summer poem, it's beautiful and bursting rhythmically with season! The image from your garden, it's gorgeous, it's rejoicing! I also like the quote from Ray Bradbury in your banner.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michelle. I'm glad you like the Bradbury quote. Dandelion Wine is a favorite book.
DeleteA wonderful metaphor for your spring weather flip-flop. I love that June is coming in on softer notes. Happy summer!
ReplyDeleteAnd best wishes for your summer, too, Margaret. It's here! Thanks!
DeleteThe fickleness of the weather is wonderfully expressed, Linda. We've had the heat on here, too!
ReplyDeleteLovely poem, Linda!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem! The idea of music and seasons dancing is inspired. Jazz riffs and all. Hoping for a gentle tune that eases you into those summer blooms.
ReplyDeleteLove the Bradbury quote!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Such a sweet song!
ReplyDeleteMasterful change of pace. For us, June brought an even brisker pace. Winter decided to arrive in a crisp snap!
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane, Iza, Julieanne, Kiesha & Kat. The day today was filled with things to do, but a beautiful summer day was lovely to be in. I understand that 'turning', Kat. Time for fires and hot tea for you!
ReplyDeleteLove that up and down the scale flip-flop! Hope you have a nice weekend, Linda.
ReplyDeleteThanks, and you too, Tabatha.
DeleteSofter tones in a slow, summer glow would be nice, indeed!
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing transformation. Your words and photographs show how quickly we can go from winter to summer. Lovely flowers!
