Congratulations on this wonderful coming book, Ruth!
What a week of sadness in Texas! I've written about it more than once, trying to find some goodness in this weather tragedy and there are things to celebrate about those who have stepped forward, or have done the jobs they were meant to do but as heroes who possibly slept less than ever. They continue to help as do many everywhere.
Except for the concern of those who have met such tragedy, I had a good week with visits and bookstore work, writing and reading. My usual good days! The grand-girls spent Friday with me because they had the day off from school. Most of the time was spent in performance! They created a few song and dance shows for me with new performance ribbons and an old plastic toy microphone I have. BTW, this mike was used often in my classroom, no matter the pretending, even my middle schoolers loved it!
My son called this am to firm up the plans for a ticket he was sending to come visit them later in the month! I am excited!

I also celebrate the checker at Kohl's who found that I had left the wallet on the counter, and turned it into the office, and the office worker who made a special trip to bring it to me at the front of the store. He was so kind and gave me a pat on the back.
Back to my grocery checker. I returned to give my information for them. She gave me a hug for the "found" wallet!
All I can say is WHEW!
Kindness and imagination are great things to celebrate. Ingrid is looking so grown up!!
ReplyDeleteI am celebrating both for sure! It was fun to be with the girls yesterday. Yes, we all think Ingrid is changing, seems all of a sudden, like the song, "turn around and you're a young girl, going out the door." Thank you, Julieanne.
DeleteWhat fun entertainment! I had my wallet stolen once and it is an awful feeling of not knowing where it is.
ReplyDeleteThe girls spent hours practicing then performing for me, much fun. I really raced back to that store! But, all is well, thank goodness. Thanks, Leigh Anne.
DeleteOh, thank goodness, for honest folks. Nothing quite so reassuring as a found wallet. I love the pics of the girls' performances. It's a blessing that they can spend those days off with you. And always something creative cooking - my Sara loved performance ribbons. Glad you'll be heading to Texas for a visit with son and family soon. Maybe you'll even get to see the band perform. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI am so grateful for that checker, Ramona! The performance ribbon idea came from one that I still had from my Sarah, so Ingrid talked me into ordering more! They love them! And yes, visiting means seeing Carter and the marching band! Thanks!
DeleteHow fun are dance shows! Cutie pies!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful connections you made around your lost wallet!
Thanks, Loralee! The grocery store checker is one I have gotten to know. She is great! I am so grateful to her and the others!
DeleteCheers to kindness and creativity, and little girls creating performances.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Thanks, Terje!
DeleteLinda, Whew, is right! Aren't you so amazed at the kindness of some folks. Last weekend, when we were in Cape May, my daughter's younger sister-in-law lost her hat in the wind. It flew off her head and landed in the sand below the ramp to the beach. A lady handed my son her cane to retrieve it. My son had it then the wind shifted and off it went. Before we noticed, a young boy hopped over the fence and jumped down into the sand to brab the hat. Everyone clapped and thanked him immensely. I told the boy and his Mom that that was a wonderful act of kindness.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your story, Carol! It is a world of kindness if we only look for it. I'm happy about that hat!
DeleteI too had friends in Texas that I worried about and just in general it is stressful to know so many people were and are facing life-threatening difficulties. What a treat to have such fun performances from your grands. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Crystal, and yes, I've been worried all the week, and now tonight about the dreamers and hoping that it will be worked out for them into something very positive. Thanks, the girls love that singing and dancing!
