Celebrating Time Fishing

Celebrating with Ruth Ayres and others today. Come visit to see how wonderful it is to celebrate all the delights of the week!

REMEMBER, IF INTERESTED, CYBIL'S NOMINATIONS BEGIN OCTOBER 1ST. THAT'S TOMORROW! I'M THRILLED TO BE A POETRY JUDGE AGAIN, BUT WE'LL HAVE NO BOOKS TO READ IF YOU DON'T NOMINATE! FIND OUT MORE HERE!

I discovered this quote by Henry David Thoreau when I visited his place and Walden Pond a long time ago with my students:

“Time is but the stream I go a-fishing in."

I'm celebrating time today, that sometimes-elusive thing we often wish more of. When I look back, however, I have fished quite a lot of wonder in these past days!

Time for:

Visiting my son, daughter-in-law, and grandson especially to be with them for Carter's marching band performance during the Friday Night Lights football game.

Time because of a flight delay to create a poem from pictures at the airport.

Time to spend with Ingrid and Imogene and to take one more butterfly picture.
Time at the PO to send packages and a special letter to friends.

Time to read a very special book! Don't miss this one!

Time to meet with my writing buddy, work at the bookstore, change the sheets, mow my (very small) lawn, and time this morning to take a walk and discover some new autumn beauty.

I do wish I had a larger "stream" sometimes, but love celebrating what happens in the time I have! Have a wonderful second week of autumn!

  1. What a great thing to celebrate - Time. We always battle with not having enough time, but maybe we just need to celebrate all that we do with the time we have. I love your poem with pictures - great idea! And thank you for a book recommendation! Great celebration that is going to inspire me to stop and think about how thankful I am for Time!

  2. Linda, how special to be able to write a poem based on airport images. I am flying out to Tuscon for the NCFL presentation I am part of and think your exercise might come in useful. Passing the time wisely is a good thing. Keep on celebrating all the good things in life and enjoy the sweet and spice.

    1. Hi Carol, I had a LOT of time to wander this small airport, and sometimes wondered what people thought as I zoomed in on a part of a poster, looking for "right" words. It was fun, and while I read a lot, I couldn't sit still for so many hours. Enjoy your own trip. I imagine everyone will love hearing from you!

  3. Wishtree - I've been waiting on pins and needles. I had to give back my ARC. I feel so much better having my very own copy.

    1. I think I'll have to purchase Wishtree. I re-read some parts before returning it from the library. I know you'll enjoy it, Ramona. It was a lot of fun visiting Carter, and of course, Nathan & Barb too. And it's always fun with Imi & Ingrid, too. Thanks!

  7. You certainly have celebrated your time wisely. I love the airport poem! Such a neat idea. Wishtree...I just finished it an hour ago. I have to admit, I was not as optimistic as Red was in the story. I thought for sure...well, I'll just leave it at that. I don't want any spoilers here. Enjoy your upcoming week!

  9. Your stream is always a delight to witness. You never stop giving, Linda - and as a reader of your blog, I am lucky to receive many 'pearls' pulled from your stream. Thank you! =)
