MUSTREAD - FIRST CHECK-IN
2018
Thanks to Carrie Gelson of There's A Book for That for hosting a #MustRead group at the beginning of the year for those who continue to create a list of lonely books on shelves or lists that we are excited about when bought or listed, then ignore, or find others that call more loudly. See the above link to Carrie's blog to find her newest update and others, too.
Here are the books from my #MustReadIn2018, and those read so far. I may not get them all finished, but believe I've done better thus far than this time last year. I've completed FIVE of the thirty-four, and am headed for number six! Each one is one I'm sorry to have missed earlier, all wonderful books!
If you have any books you are convinced I need to read SOON, tell me in the comments!

I still have to read The Hate U Give and Dear Martin. I'm sure I'll think they are as amazing as everyone says, but because they are YA and I can't recommend them to my elementary students I have put off reading them.
ReplyDeleteI understand. There is just so many you can read. I enjoyed both, but they were intense. Thanks, Lisa.
DeleteI have the same thoughts about those two titles as Lisa. I put The Hate U Give on my list, but not Dear Martin, only because my public doesn't have it. As Lisa wrote, it is easy to put off reading YA, even easier if I have to pay for it. I hope you enjoy Me and Marvin Gardens, I have read it and passed it to two people but neither have finished yet. I like reading what others have to say about it. It was bizzare to read an A.S. King MG book after many of her YAs.
DeleteI know what you mean, can't buy them all! Thanks for being another to recommend Me and Marvin Gardens!
DeleteI can't wait to see what you think of Me and Marvin Gardens - I loved this one! Dear Martin was really well done I thought.
ReplyDeleteThere are many titles I hope to get to, like Me and Marvin Gardens. Fun problem, right? Thanks, Carrie!
Delete"Lucky Broken Girl" is excellent I just finished reading it! Fast read, I didn't want to put it down.
ReplyDeleteTerrific to hear this, Michelle. I'll remember!
DeleteI think I am going to start the title I borrowed from your list, H Is for Hawk, this week. I have started Dear Martin but lost momentum with it. I'm struggling with that one for some reason. I am hoping to get to many more titles on your list this year. So many wonderful books to read!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree! I'm embarrassed that I bought H Is For Hawk when it came out, and still have not touched it! I hope you enjoy it, Elisabeth, and hope also to start it soon myself. Thanks!
DeleteYou have read some wonderful and challenging books so far. I also have a copy of H Is For Hawk that I purchased ages ago and then forgot about....
ReplyDeleteI know I would love it, Cheriee. Hoping my list will make me start! Thanks!
DeleteI've read and loved several of the books you have finished. Yay! You have some great titles ahead of you too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Crystal, I'm sure I do, just need to find the time to read more!
