I like to drive home from wherever I am in the city on the back roads, away from the traffic, this time of year especially watching for the colors of spring, the yellows of jonquils and forsythia, the pale pinks of fruit trees before they burst into bright blossom suns and the tulips, bringing rainbows of colors. This time, meandering down one street I saw what I thought was a goat. I had to turn around. I sat and watched, and watched some more. It surprised me, but not because a goat is in the neighborhood, because this household pretends with a piece of art.

Ha! I love it! The goats in my neighborhood are real. :-)
ReplyDeleteChickens are legal here in the city, but I don't think goats are, hence my surprise. Actually, they might be easier than chickens! I imagine there are goats in your neighborhood, Ruth. Thanks!

DeleteI love a good back road drive. I guess you never know what you'll see. I'm glad you are seeing signs of spring. We have yet to be so lucky.

DeleteI want a goat. I follow Goats of Anarchy on Instagram. I used to see llamas in my neighborhood. They can be ornery.

DeleteWe used to hear a goat on one of our neighborhood walks, but he/she has been gone for years. It doesn't keep us from thinking about him/her whenever we walk by that house. There's another house that has chickens and she even invited us into the yard to see them one day. You make the haibun look easy. When I read about them, it sounded hard.
