This week, Poetry Friday is hosted by Carol Wilcox at her blog, Carol's Corner. Just wait until you meet Rooney! Prepare to fall in love!
I am celebrating today. It's my 1900th post. What a wonderful journey it's been since I started in 2011, sharing some of the ups and downs of my life and enjoying reading about others. I've made many friends, met some in person, wish often that we could all be in the same neighborhood. But perhaps we are, as Mr. Rogers sings, even here online, "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood."
As you can see on the right I am participating in the Summer Swap, the lovely idea created and managed by Tabatha Yeatts (at The Opposite of Indifference) so long ago. It is lots of fun to create for someone else and also to receive a poetic surprise in the mail.
Today I'm actually sharing a poem I wrote for Iphigene Daradar from the Gathering Books blog. I've sent to her before, but this time our US mail gives no tracking number so I still do not know if she has received my package. I hope so! Considering I was then thinking of the journey that it would take, now I wonder where it might be. It's been a long time!
Applause for your smiling cargo and poetic surprises!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo to go with it, Linda. I hope you hear from Iphigene soon!
I do, too, Tabatha. I asked about the tracking & the PO said that it was just not reliable these recent months. Thanks.
DeleteYes to mail and smiles, especially those as a result of Tabatha's Poem Swap. I wrote a mail poem recently, too... a message from your mailbox. :) You can read it here: https://irenelatham.blogspot.com/2019/07/the-butterfly-hours-memoir-project-mail.html
ReplyDeleteAnd WOW, 1900 posts!!!! Well done, Linda! Congratulations, and THANK YOU. xo
Thanks for all, Irene. I've missed too many of your poems that you've been writing! Will be sure to read that one!
DeleteLinda, that is a creative touch you added to the poem swap. I keep looking at the photo, noticing and wondering about all those packages. I sure hope your package surfaces. Stanza 2 is exactly what happens when the packages come in.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on all those posts you wrote, Linda. Have a great day.
DeleteThanks, Carol. Somehow I found that picture, then wrote the poem, imagining all the mail moving out into the world. Amazing, just that one place!
Delete1,900 posts! Wow! Congratulations on that impressive achievement! I can definitely relate to the second stanza of your poem. Packages are always greeted with enthusiasm around here :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Molly. It was a fun poem to write!
DeleteHere's another Wow, for your fantastic 1900 posts, that's terrific!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope your poem makes its way to Iphigene, I think she'd really relate and appreciate it! I'm wondering what came first the poem or the image, they work so well together–and who doesn't love getting a gift package–fun all around Linda!
Thank you, Michelle. I found the picture first, was looking for something about travel and the piles of boxes showed up! Yes, mail is a best thing!
DeleteVery impressed with your 1900 posts. Even more impressed that you know where/how to find that out! And love your clever little (witty) poem for Iphigene.
ReplyDeleteBlogger keeps count of published posts, Kat, in the 'design' part. Thanks!
DeleteWow! 1900 posts. Amazing and wonderful and so, so, so....YOU! You are one of my favorite inspirations and neighborhood friends. Many congrats on this milestone. I too sent something off to Iphigene and am not sure if she got it. I've wondered....maybe my envelope is sitting in a big pile of mail. I hope it's in her hands already. Your poem makes ME smile.
ReplyDeleteLatest news, Linda. I heard from Tabatha, then Iphigene, that she's in Australia. Her mail is waiting back home! It's good to hear that she's having fun traveling! Thanks!
DeleteI love the poem you wrote for Iphigene and the accompanying photo. Surprises in the mail are such fun and a poetic surprise just doubles the pleasure. Congrats on your latest milestone, Linda. And yes, our community is a neighborhood all its own.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ramona, hearing from others all over the U.S. and the world is a wonderful thing, neighbors for sure.
DeleteCONGRATS on 1900 posts, Linda - no way to count all the lives you've touched with your thoughtfulness and creativity over here!! And I know you've only just begun.... The boxes poem is great, and so true(!) Glad you were able to track down its recipient - lots of fun happenings in Australia this week, it sesems! :0)
ReplyDeleteYes, fun to read Kat's post, then to hear from Iphigene there. Thank you!
DeleteWoo hoo! 1900 is a lot of posts to write and share. I love the poem you wrote for Iphigene. I can share that excitement when a package arrives! I hope your package travels safely to her.
ReplyDeleteI did finally hear from her & she is is Australia, will get the package when she goes home. Thanks, Kay!
DeleteHappy 1900! That is quite the accomplishment, Linda! I'd love it if we lived in the same actual neighborhood, but the internet can feel neighborly even when we are many, many miles apart. I love your 'package' poem - I know that 'click' all too well, even though Switzerland doesn't have Amazon. (We have to use Germany and pay a big import tax.) Iphigene will love her poem when she gets home. =)
ReplyDeleteInteresting that Amazon is not there. I wonder why? Thanks, Bridget. Online shopping is quite alluring, but I first try to find what I want in town.
DeleteThis poem and picture reminds me of my daughter who is 7 months pregnant. She is having a baby shower (postponed due to Barry) and has been receiving packages daily. The boxes are piling up. It's like the wedding all over again. Packages really are fun, but my husband keeps reminding me that the whole process of home delivery is bad for the environment.
ReplyDeleteUPS & Fed Ex are in our neighborhood often, so I understand part of why it's bad. It's too bad the shower was postponed, but must be fun to receive the gifts, too. Thanks, Margaret.
DeleteCartons are fun, but poetic surprises are the best kind of mail. :D And 1900 posts? My word, what an accomplishment! Congratulations, Linda!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michelle. Yes, poetic surprises are wonderful to find in my mailbox!
DeleteCongratulations Linda! I'm very impressed! I love your poem and getting parcels, even when I know what's in them. The photograph above made me shudder as I looked at those parcels in that pile and worried about fragile items.
ReplyDeleteHa! I keep looking at that picture & wondering how they all are going to be delivered! Thanks, Cheriee!
DeleteCongratulations on 1900 posts, Linda! That is an impressive accomplishment! You were one of the first people to welcome me into our "neighborhood," and I will always be grateful for your kind words of encouragement. I love the poem you wrote for Iphigene! It's so true that packages bring a whoop and a grin!
ReplyDeleteThere is a group of us who've connected for a long time, isn't there? I love that we've met, Catherine, hope it happens again. Thank you!
