Jone Rush McCulloch hosts us today at her blog here with an inspirational poem for starting the day. Be sure to visit to read it. Thanks, Jone!
The bookmark, on top of the picture above, came into the bookstore at the end of March. Often people do donate books and leave 'treasures' in them. This time, it became my own treasure and I knew what I would do for April's poetry, write about found treasures, perhaps find new places to look? Only one more day!
Plus! Check each day for the added line to the Progressive Poem, created by Irene Latham, now hosted by Margaret Simon! The link is to the right!
It's Poem in Your Pocket day. Do you have a poem ready to carry and share? You can find many here at Poet.Org, The Academy of American Poets, or here at The Poetry Foundation.
I am re-sharing the poem that I wrote last year, this time for this special day.
BEGS to be read aloud -- love this!
ReplyDeleteYou've tucked a lot of goodness in your pocket poem, Linda. I haven't thought about a Chunky Bar in years! Happy PIYP Day! :)
ReplyDeletePerfect pocket-perspective! Fun!
ReplyDeleteHappy Poem in Your Pocket Day!
ReplyDeleteHere's my pocket poem for today:
In the Company of Women by January Gill O'Neil https://poets.org/poem/company-women
I love that your Poem in a Pocket is a poem from the poem in your pocket. Very clever.
ReplyDeleteHooray! A great poem for Poem in Your Pocket Day. Chunky bar....yum! A chunky bar is better when you have a poem to read while you eat it. You've done a great job with your poems this month. As usual, I'm inspired by you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful PIYP day poem. I love it!
ReplyDeleteSo perfect for poem in your pocket! Love this!
ReplyDeleteOh, the pocket knows a lot! Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYour pockets are always FULL of wonderful poems to share - Thank you, Linda!
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone for visiting and commenting. What a grand month April is. However, I'm ready for new things, hope you are, too!
ReplyDeleteOne of the best pocket poems EVER!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I did see this and left a quick comment. My eye is healing but leaves me exhausted (doctor says that's normal) so I am late to adding my comment here. I still have not uncovered the denim pocket you sent me years ago. It has been a treasured companion. Today's poem would fit in it just nicely. Line 1 is a great start and line 2 made me laugh because I always need a kleenex that takes the place of long ago hankies. I have even stuffed change or a dollar in my pocket but the best is tucking a poem deep inside. Love your poem.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pocket poem! The "lacy hanky" reminded me of my mother - she always had one and encouraged me to have one, too.
ReplyDeleteLovely poem, I like that lacy hanky it goes so well with the white petaled flower, thanks Linda!
ReplyDeleteLovely poem, I like that lacy hanky it goes so well with the white petaled flower, thanks Linda!
ReplyDeleteI too love the lacy hanky in your poem it goes so well with the dainty white-petal flower, and makes us think about what's in that pocket too, thanks Linda!
ReplyDeleteLove the way this dovetails with Jama and Jackie Kay's observations on what a house knows. Delightful, Linda!
ReplyDeleteAll kinds of perfection!
