At A(nother) Year of Reading, Poetry Friday is with Mary Lee Hahn, poet, quilter, embroiderer, fisherwoman, and more HERE, sharing so much poetry goodness, including her "poetry month" project. Thanks, Mary Lee, for hosting!
It's the day before Poetry Month! Are you ready? Enjoy all the days ahead!
In still another post, Mary Lee shared the following: "This month, the Poetry Sisters are writing etherees. This ten-line form begins with a single syllable, and each line expands by one syllable until the tenth line has ten. We’re continuing with our 2023 theme of transformation, but how you interpret that topically is up to you.
Somehow, some way, the topic of color entered my brain. Here is what I created.

Linda, what a beautiful image to go with your etheree on color. The title is perfectly and helped me read it with more pizzazz! I smiled with the little hiccup of the blue coming before green and then getting it back in its place. "bits and drips" is nice here too.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Denise. It was fun to work out & took several drafts till finally, I liked it. Yes, I was happy to find that image!
DeletePalette power! Love it. xo
ReplyDeleteLinda, bits and drips and palette power make me want to bring out the little girls' watercolors to create a spring scene. The cherry blossoms are filling my thoughts with color in their dainty way. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteOh, what fun to explore the color wheel--a fascinating topic! I love how the tone of your poem becomes more conversational with each expanding line.
ReplyDeleteHooray for "palette power!" I recently bought a small color wheel to keep at my art desk and I'm having fun exploring how the various triads and tetrads, tones and shades work together!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Irene, Carol, JoAnn, and Mary Lee. I love reading your responses, am fascinated by working with color in painting and other media. It was a joy to capture some of it in the poem.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this glowing orb of colorful goodness Linda, it's lovely, and just what we need to wash away the gray dreary day. My student's in both classes painted color wheels this week, as ours, your wheel is filled with harmonious hues, thanks!
ReplyDeleteThey say a poem should end strongly and the words, 'palette power' bring your Etheree to a fine alliterative close, Linda. A dazzling presentation as well.
ReplyDeleteThis is such fun, Linda--and I love all your internal rhyme! It's snow white here in MN, so your punch of color is lovely!
ReplyDeleteColor wheel story! Thanks for the ride, Linda--this would be so much fun to do with kids, too, wouldn't it?
ReplyDelete"Palette Power" ... what a phrase! It'll probably ring through my mind the next time I paint. Thank you for this poem Linda!
ReplyDeleteIt's April, time for me to get going with what's next! Thanks all for loving my 'palette'. I think it'll be fun to do our "color-mixing" poems all of April!
ReplyDeleteoooooh! I love this...the color wheel is such a great back drop for your etheree. My favorite is "violet found."
ReplyDelete"bits and drips - palette power" - such a joy to color my workd this morning. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'm fascinated with color - though I still haven't learned to use it to my advantage. I could use a little "palette power." Happy Poetry Month!
ReplyDeleteSo clever! I love that the titles shows reader which way you were looking. :-)
ReplyDeletePalette Power!! Love this -- as vivid as the color wheel itself!
ReplyDeleteAs I wrote almost the same earlier, it feels as if "palette power" will be our support all of April. Thanks, everyone!
ReplyDeleteSuch a dazzling display of palette power!
ReplyDeleteYour etheree shows your true colors, Linda, vibrant and beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Patricia and Bridget!
