My laptop is back, repaired! And here I am writing one of the shortest posts I believe I have ever done. But, I am weary after these recent weeks of all the political turmoil and now the terrible fires in Hawaii, and on. In varying ways, I am attempting to help those in need. Today I choose to focus on the beauty and the miracles of our world. What wonders there are to adore, to appreciate! I see some of you raising milkweed for the promise of butterflies, and, I think, the promise of a miracle.
Linda, this is beautiful beginning with your choice. I too choose beauty today...thank you for this invitation.
ReplyDeleteTasting the feel of the future. I do like that. And looking for beauty and wonder in a sometimes scary world... And hope.
ReplyDeleteLinda, that is beautiful. "Tasting the feel of the future" is so insightful. Were you a caterpillar before becoming a butterfly? : )
ReplyDeleteIt is a sad and scary time, and I appreciate that you are choosing to focus on the beauty. Like Kat, I like "tasting the feel of the future." The thought is just beautiful. I want to do that today, a hope-filled future.
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice poem, and thank you for the reminder to choose beauty. It's so important to remember.
ReplyDelete"tasting the feel/of the future" -- perfect! It's a beautiful way to slow down, see the beauty in the now. Hearts together with you for Hawaii!
ReplyDeleteGlad your laptop has been repaired! I hope you are able to recharge your personal batteries -- it's easy to get worn down. Sending hugs and hopes for rejuvenation!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful, Linda! Yes, I am one of those milkweed and monarch lovers - I've done it so long, it's a summer habit - checking my milkweed for evidence of the monarch's life cycle. Your poem is just right for this time of year!
ReplyDeleteOh, that idea of tasting the future is wonderful, Linda!
ReplyDeleteBeauty and tasting future how delicious! Thanks for taking us there Linda, it’s too easy to get caught up in the din of everything!
ReplyDelete"tasting the feel of the future." Ah, Linda, you give me hope. ❤️
ReplyDeleteFor no apparent reason I'm feeling draggy today. Your poem is a beautiful reminder of all the things I have to appreciate. Thank you for the lift.
ReplyDeleteI think some of the best and most brilliant poetry is the shortest. Placing us next to the caterpillar who tastes the future is just where we need to be. It offers hope in the gentlest way.
ReplyDeleteI am fostering three black swallowtails. One is in chrysalis, the other two are still "tasting the future." Here's to choosing to focus on beauty. *clink*
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone. It feels like finding a way to both help those in need and find beauty, too, is a blessing. I see from your comments that you feel that way, too!
ReplyDeleteI love "tasting the feel of the future"! It's such a surprising phrase and yet so deeply apt. It reminds me of Laura Purdie Salas's comments about Rebecca Kai Dotlich using the verb "hear" in reference to the sun's glaze in a poem "In the Wonder House." Like that combination, yours is also both "unexpected" and "bewitching."
ReplyDeleteOh I love that caterpillars ride! What a great image!
ReplyDelete"tasting the feel / of the future" sounds like such a happy, hopeful promise in these difficult times.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the first two lines of your poem, Linda, because it reminds me of my childhood. I hope you receive this comment that arrives late.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marcie, Anastasia, and Carol! Wishing you another week finding beauty!
ReplyDeleteI, again, like your writing. Such vivid expression. And the picture with it was a nice touch. I look forward to your Friday writings.
ReplyDeleteTasting the feel of the future—what an elegant poem and photo to match!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christine & Karen, I am happy you like the poem and photo!
