It's Poetry Friday, and Rose Cappelli is hosting HERE on her blog, Imagine The Possibilities, sharing poems that celebrate the many birds that come to her feeder. There's Captain, Fred and Ginger, Redboy and Queenie midst a host of others. Well, you'll see when you visit! Thanks for hosting, Rose! : )
I found some time this week to play around with words that I cut from various magazines and save in a little box. Considering the world's challenges for so many people, both near and far, the words I found brought comfort in the doing as I considered those trying to survive for so long in horrible conditions from both war and terrible famine. And I thought of today, then tomorrow, hoping for better.

simple
peace and quiet
that needs to be nourished
feel everything nice
It’ll be gone before you can see
life is not waterproof
an ocean of
savories
tomorrow will be tomorrow

Happy World Poetry Day - March 21, 2024
Linda, I did not know that it is Happy World Poetry Day. Thanks for sharing that and providing a very interesting poem. "Simple peace and quietneeds to be nourished!" YES! Have a wonderful beginning to spring.
ReplyDeleteClever. Let's hope for 'simple peace and quiet for all'.
ReplyDeleteLinda, what a beautiful collage poem!! Life is not waterproof, indeed. xo
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carol, Sally, & Irene. I am hoping for better every day!
ReplyDeleteWow, yes “life is not waterproof” says so much of our frailty today. Beautiful and moving poem Linda, thanks, and for another day to celebrate 🙌 with poetry!
ReplyDeletePeace and quiet does need to be nourished, doesn't it? xo
ReplyDeleteCool collage, Linda! "tomorrow will be tomorrow", only better with your words. :)
ReplyDeleteLinda, I still return to my little word box you sent last year. It's a box of hope! As is your poem. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove that you collect words in a box and fashion them into poems. Such a comforting exercise -- mental as well as tactile.
ReplyDeleteDear Michelle, Tabatha, Bridget, Patricia, & Jama. Thanks for coming by! Fiddling with words is fun, takes me lots of places!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your poem, Linda. I love "life is not waterproof."
ReplyDeleteI still have a word box from you! I need to get it out and play. Life is definitely not "waterproof," so I am thankful for all kinds of "rain gear" to help me get through it all!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rose and Mary Lee. I'm so glad there is "rain gear." I wish it was for everyone!
ReplyDeleteLinda, this is beautiful. I love "life is not waterproof" as so many others do, as well as how you crafted all of the pieces into one fluid poem.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tracey, it is a thought-filled time to try to make it all work, at least to my liking!
DeleteLove this Linda! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Sarah. Thank you!
DeleteLinda, such pretty words and your poem is a winner. My fave: "peace and quiet / that needs to be nourished"
ReplyDeleteI typically create found word poetry when on vacation---I need to go find some words. It's really fun and can harness some significant thoughts. Love your words AND the palette...it's like a beach scene.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of your word box, Linda! And what a poem--Life is not waterproof, and then an ocean of...Focusing in on words and poems and the here and now is a survival tactic in an inexplicable world. xo
ReplyDeleteThanks, Denise, Linda, & Laura. I'm back in my busy world but Wednesday's taking time to play with words was so nice. Now it's time to do some searching & cutting out more words to save! Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love this kind of challenge and how it makes us rethink words, phrases, juxtapositions. "Savories," not sweets. We must be ready for the tsunamis of umami!
ReplyDeleteI love how you transformed a pile of words into this poem. Peace and quiet might at first seem like a cliche, but our need for it has given those words power. It a hunger I feel.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Heidi & Janice. It's always great to find a different challenge!
ReplyDeleteSuch perfect words for now! Ruth, thereisnosuchthingasagodforsakentown.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm glad you think so, Ruth! Thanks!
