It's Poetry Friday, and Carol Varsalona is hosting HERE on her blog Beyond Literacy Link with an "Abundance of Autumn"! Thanks for hosting, Carol!
My daughter and family live west of me, so I am traveling east when I drive home from visiting them. It's often evening, with a grand view of the sunset!driving and weaving tomorrow
my mind curves into new corners
remembering to look back
at the weft of yesterday

How beautiful that moment in time -- I love how you captured it in your photo and in your poem. Your use of weave and weft makes perfect sense to how I sometimes feel. Thank you for putting it into words! Oooooh, I canNOT pass by a cute bookstore display. Gimme, gimme some Dr. Seuss Spooky things!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely moment, Linda. And yay for your Halloweenie window display! What fun. xo
ReplyDeleteWhat Linda M. said -- and yes, moment captured so beautifully in both poem and photo. Happy Halloween (fun display!).
ReplyDeleteI love the weft of yesterday. Ruth, thereisnosuchthingasagodforsakentown.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone. I need to get to the bookstore soon, will catch up with more posts later! FYI - that Dr. Seuss book is already out of the bag! : )
ReplyDeleteThe weft of yesterday - lovely turn of phrase, Linda! Thank you for the reminder to stop, look back, and appreciate. : )
ReplyDeleteI love the weft of yesterday, Linda. So often we only look forward. Or some people only look backward. Finding that balance is hard, and this is a beautiful moment.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love "weaving tomorrow" as you gaze into sunset, Linda. I can hear the gratitude in those words.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, beautiful, reflective navigation poem, and those last two ending lines are powerfully rich–I also especially love the sunset view, thanks! And your VOTE! And Happy Halloween to you too! 🎃
ReplyDeleteLove the metaphorical links in your poem, Linda. You traversed the word journey with ease.
ReplyDeleteLinda, this poem is reflective. I love the words: weft of yesterday. Thanks for reminder to look back. Enjoy Halloween with the family.
ReplyDeleteSuch a peaceful, beautiful mood you created with words, Linda. Thanks you!
ReplyDeleteI love your weaving metaphor! Such truth in our forward-moving backward-looking ways!
ReplyDeleteI so love a word like weft -- not used nearly enough. The nostalgia here is lovely...
ReplyDelete"My mind curves into new corners" is a wonderful line, wistful and hopeful.
ReplyDeleteLove the choice of words in your poem, Linda. And traveling with a great view is the best! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOoh! "Curves into new corners" just beautiful, as is the picture.
ReplyDeleteThanks to all. I've been out in my yard much of the day! Time for raking leaves, at least the start! We have winter coming so I want to have a head start!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Linda, both the sunset and your poem. 🤩 (And I've voted!)
ReplyDeleteHurrah, happy to hear about you voting! Thanks, Karen. I've voted, too! I couldn't wait!
